Fit4Dance NYC

Mission & Vision

Fit4Dance is dedicated to bringing quality and affordable dance and fitness instruction to communities that need it the most. We offer a comfortable space where people can have fun, learn to dance, improve their fitness and health, meet new people, explore other cultures, and freely express themselves. Laci established Fit4Dance to inspire and motivate women to take control of their health and have a blast doing it!

Laci decided to open Fit4Dance in Brooklyn for three reasons: to encourage African-American women and children to take charge of their health through exercise (hundreds of black women die everyday from preventable diseases; this number can be significantly reduced with at least 30 minutes of movement a day); to unify diverse groups of people through the common love of dance (neighborhoods are changing; culture is important to understand and respect); and lastly to organize charitable giving and volunteer opportunities within the community (ie school supply drives, toy drives, sanitary products drive for incarcerated women, sock drives for homeless men, toiletry drives for homeless women, coat drives, etc.)

Fit4Dance will continue to have a measurable impact on women and children in Brooklyn and beyond.  We will help women meet their fitness goals while also helping them relieve stress and gain a more positive outlook on life.  By offering dance fitness classes in a caring, supportive  atmosphere, the community will begin to look at fitness as a pleasant and consistent part of their lifestyle. By working together as a family through giving, donating, and other charitable projects, we will also increase our collective impact in communities that need our support the most.

We’re proud to be a Certified B Corporation. B Corporations are a new kind of company which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. There are over 1,000 Certified B Corporations from more than 60 industries in 34 countries with 1 unifying goal – to redefine success in business. B Corps are important because they inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world. Certified B Corporations meet higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. It’s like Fair Trade certification but for the whole business, not just a bag of coffee (or USDA Organic certification, but not just for a carton of milk; or LEED certification, but not just for a building). The performance standards are comprehensive and transparent. They measure a company’s impact on all its stakeholders (e.g. workers, suppliers, community, and the environment). Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions not only on their shareholders, but also on their stakeholders (e.g., workers, suppliers, community, consumers, and the environment).

We're committed to supporting our community. We source over 50% of our supplies locally, partnering with independent businesses. This isn't just business; it's investing in our neighbors and strengthening our local economy. We are making a difference, one dance step at a time.

Fit4Dance was recognized by the City of New York as an Honoree in the 2015 Best for NYC Campaign in the Community category in Brooklyn. We’re proud to be a company that is committed to doing well and doing good – for our workers, for our community, and for the environment. We completed the B Impact Assessment, the leading global tool for impact measurement, underwent a rigorous verification process, and scored among the top 10 companies for our community impact in Brooklyn. Fit4Dance is proud and excited to be using our business as a force for good, striving to improve NYC and the quality of life for all New Yorkers.
