Fit4Dance Fundraiser: Let's Send Laci to Haiti!

Greetings!
I hope this letter finds you and your family blessed and in good health.  As you may know, dancing is a passion of mine and has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  I’ve studied, performed, and taught various forms of dance including but not limited to tap, jazz, hip hop, African, and Haitian. I began taking Haitian dance classes with Peniel Guerrier three years ago in New York City. Since then, I have fallen in love with this style of dance and my involvement in the Haitian dance community has grown.  In 2011, I became a member of Peniel’s dance troupe, Kriye Bode, and committed to participating in classes and rehearsals 3-4 times a week. We have performed all over New York City at educational, cultural, artistic and private events in such acclaimed venues as The Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and The Schomburg Center.

Peniel is one of the most talented and well-respected Haitian dancers and instructors in the world, having studied dance intensively from a young age and I have been fortunate to work so closely with him.  Not only is Peniel an amazing leader but I am blessed to dance with an outstanding group of men and women of varying ages, backgrounds, and cultures, all united by a single goal.  We all love to dance and use it as a way to express ourselves while also helping others. Peniel organizes a trip to Haiti each year to give dancers an authentic experience of the art form including participating in dance classes at the dance school where he studied, volunteering at an orphanage, teaching dance classes and reading to students at a local school, visiting major landmarks, learning about the culture, exploring politics, and more.   Our trip is planned for April 14th-21st. My vision is to raise enough money to contribute to my travel expenses but more importantly to give back to the Haitian community that has so inspired me.

Fit4Dance is hosting a dance fitness fundraiser on Saturday March 1st from 4:30pm-6:30pm in order to help me raise money.  We would love to see you there to support.  If you're interested in attending the event or even if you'd just like to donate, please visit:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fit4dance-fundraiser-lets-send-laci-to-haiti-tickets-10563043347
