Afro Fusion with Tamara Jones

We're excited to welcome Tamara Jones @godsproperty125 to Fit4Dance on Wednesday July 5th as a guest instructor! Tamara will be teaching Afrofusion! This class is a freedom of expression and the perfect blend of traditional African dance from Guinea West Africa mixed with your favorite afro dance moves throughout the Continent.
 
Tamara Jones is a dancer and choreographer born & raised in Jamaica, New York. She has been a member of several different dance companies. To name a few, her longest dance career has been with Harambee Dance Company and Umoja Dance Company. Throughout her dance career, Tamara has had the opportunity to perform on many stages and venues. Those stages include Symphony Space, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), for Essence Magazine Events, Summer Stage, the International African Arts Street Festival, New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) and Broadway Dance Center’s Tribute to Tap artist Savion Glover (2005). Tamara Jones choreographed for Jona Briddle, commemorating a tribute to hip hop pioneer and Brickhouse Studios Founder Kelly Peters featured on the AlvinAiley Citigroup Theatre stage. Tamara was also given the honor of performing for the Late Rita Owens, (Queen Latifah’s mother) amongst company members in her remembrance, March 2018. In 2020, she was a featured dancer in the Grammy Award Singing artist Angelique Kidjoe & Bass Player Michael Olatuja's collaboration "Lagos Pepper Soup."

Apart from dance,, Tamara Jones has explored a career in acting. She was a dancer in the Indie Film “The Magnificent Cooley T,” starring Jackie Long and Tiearra Marie released Spring 2016 produced by Steven Leeds and the movie “A Meyers Christmas,” produced by Will Packer and directed by David E. Talbert (2017) as a praise worshiper. She also has been seen on television shows such as "Black Ink Crew" starring DMX and as a feature on the Dr. Oz show.
