The Women's Business Center (WBC) and Small Business Administration (SBA) partnered together to host the She Started It panel discussion. Five successful women business owners came to talk about their experiences as businesswomen and the obstacles they overcame as they developed their businesses. Each woman had a different type of business. Caitlin Makary owns a banana bread bakery (Dank Brooklyn), Nicole McCullum provides web design services (Captivate Designs), Laci Chisholm runs a dance studio (Fit4Dance), Corina Reynolds has a book printing business (Small Editions), and Jennifer Hopkins works with young children (A Playdate Everyday).
The variety of businesses allowed each woman to talk about struggles they faced specific to their business. In return, workshop attendees asked questions to panelists who had a business that was similar to their own business ideas. And of course, Caitlyn Makary brought delicious banana bread for all the attendees to enjoy as they listened to the amazing stories of these five women and their successful businesses. After the thorough panel discussion, attendees met with the five women to ask personal questions and to seek advice for the businesses they were looking to launch.
