Fit4Dance Founder & CEO Laci Chisholm Receives Two Su Casa Grants Providing Dance Classes to Senior Citizens in Brooklyn

Brooklyn Arts Council’s SU-CASA Creative Aging program, funded by the New York City Council, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and the NYC Department for the Aging, provides opportunities for seniors to actively express themselves creatively, socialize with a culturally engaged collective of senior citizens, engage in cultural performances, and master techniques in a variety of arts disciplines.

This year, BAC awarded $312,000 to 41 artists for SU-CASA arts programming in 48 senior centers throughout Brooklyn. This was the highest number of SU-CASA allocations BAC has ever distributed. For each SU-CASA site, artists were given a generous stipend as well as funding to cover costs for materials. Partnering senior centers also received a subsidy to support their participation in the initiative. Founder & CEO Laci Chisholm received a grant to work at two centers: Cypress Hills Fulton Street Senior Center & Saint Augustine’s Episcopal Church.
