Fit4Dance NYC

Fit4Dance Becomes ShapeUp NYC Host Site for one of our own: Vonecia Carswell

Shape Up NYC is a free citywide fitness program supported by NYC Service, the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, and the Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation, that aims to reduce health inequalities across New York City by targeting  classes in high-need neighborhoods such as the South Bronx, Central Harlem, and North and Central Brooklyn. Shape Up NYC  offers fitness classes to hundreds of New Yorkers at City recreation centers, public schools, and select hospitals and NYCHA facilities . Classes are offered as a way of engaging New Yorkers of all ages in regular exercise, through a variety of courses such as aerobics, yoga, and  martial arts. Over 3,000 New Yorkers participate in Shape Up classes every week.

This is how F4D Owner Laci Chisholm began teaching adult fitness classes and it is truly an honor to be a host site for our very own F4D dancer, educator, and photographer Vonecia Carswell. Vonecia will begin teaching her FREE community class called Hip-House Dance Fitness at Fit4Dance on Sundays at 2pm beginning January 5th.

Hip-House Dance Fitness is an upbeat workout that fuses aerobics and dance with Old School Hip Hop and House vibes to improve cardio fitness and tone the body.

We are so proud of Vonecia and can’t wait to dance with her and support her along her dance fitness journey!
