Siomara Bridges-Mata (Cee Cee) has been teaching dance to youth and adults in New York City for 10+ years and solidified this passion with the initiation of M.O.V.E. Bridges Dance Project (MBDP). MBDP unifies Siomara’s passion for teaching and cultural exchange, with her relentless pursuit of educational innovation; that is, constantly developing new and creative ways to provide people with movement experiences that yield powerful lessons applicable to their everyday lives.
Since launching MBDP, Siomara has taken the show on the road traveling as close to home as New Jersey and as far as New Mexico, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Ciudad Juarez and Cozumel, Mexico. Whether domestic or abroad, Siomara has facilitated workshops at community centers, orphanages, dance studios, universities, private events. Additionally, Siomara also provides consultations to artists and event planners on ways to incorporate meaningful movement activities into their practice. Predating MBDP, Siomara was selected as a cultural envoy to co-create and teach a curriculum on “Urban Dance in America” in partnership with the Embassy of Costa Rica. This experience traveling across Costa Rica and working with dancers, higher educational institutions, and community members left a powerful imprint on Siomara’s belief on the power of the arts to transcend language and cultural barriers.
