GirlTrek, the largest health movement and nonprofit for Black women in the country, is bringing together thousands of families across the country this Thanksgiving weekend to start a new tradition called the Black Family 5K.
GirlTrek’s Black Family 5K encourages families -- blood or chosen -- to get out in nature and take a walk. The Black Family 5K is a hallmark end-of-year celebration in the GirlTrek movement celebrating fitness, family, and fun. We’ll be meeting at the Grand Army Plaza entrance.
We need this now more than ever. A reason to revel. To reconnect. To rejoice with our loved ones. AND to shake off the trauma of this pandemic. Join us as we reclaim Black Friday and center ourselves on kinship, health, and fun.
The Black Family 5K is supported by Release the Pressure, a diverse coalition of health care organizations and heart health experts including the American Medical Association (AMA), AMA Foundation, American Heart Association, Association of Black Cardiologists, National Medical Association, and Minority Health Institute who are dedicated to partnering with the Black community to improve heart health. Take the pledge to walk for heart health here.
