This year, Fit4Dance Founder & CEO had the incredible honor of receiving a SU-CASA grant—New York City’s signature creative aging initiative. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Council Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council. Through this program, Laci led a residency at Shore Hill Older Adult Center, bringing weekly dance and movement workshops to a vibrant and welcoming community of seniors.
What began as a traditional dance series evolved into Dancing Through the Decades—a joyful exploration of music and movement from the 1950s to the 2000s. With the help of nostalgic tunes, fun activities like coloring pages and word searches, and a whole lot of heart, we created an experience that was as healing as it was energizing. Even participants who were shy or hesitant at first began to smile, dance, and join our freestyle circle over time.
Scroll below to see some of the beautiful moments we shared together in this powerful intergenerational journey through rhythm, memory, and joy. Our final celebration was called “ The Last Disco”. Seniors received T-shirts and disco themed gift bags.
