Masala Bhangra® is an Indian-dance based program, designed for people of all ages and fitness levels who love to stay physically active. Masala Bhangra® is an ACE, AFAA and AFLCA approved program. Specifically, it introduces high energy Bhangra and Bollywood dance movements in an easy-to-follow fitness format, and is a mechanism by which thousands of people have been moved, touched and inspired to become physically active. With the dance choreography directly influenced by the music and dance of modern Bhangra and Bollywood styles, Masala Bhangra is a fresh and exciting addition to the world of fitness and dance.
Ashley Butler, a NYC Department of Education teacher, has been dancing since the age of 6 in various genres of dance such as, West African, Tap, Modern, and Hip-hop just to name a few. Ever since she can remember, Ashley has been a lover of Indian culture, especially the dance aspect. Early 2015, she started taking Masala Bhangra classes with the founder and creator, Sarina Jain at Alvin Ailey in Manhattan. Since then, Ashley has performed at Alvin Ailey for the World Dance performance, on PIX 11 morning news, the Nick Cannon Red Nose Day Dance-a-thon on NBC, and recently participated in ABC's Good Morning America's Bollywood Dance Party Segment. It was only right that Ashley became certified to teach the Masala Bhangra workout. She is passionate about Masala Bhangra and enjoys sharing her love for it with her students.
