An event this momentous comes only once.

The Alvin Ailey Dance company is celebrating its 60th Anniversary with its biggest season yet, centered on premieres by some of the most acclaimed choreographers in Ailey’s history.

  • Rennie Harris (Home and Exodus) has created the Company’s first two-act work, Lazarus, which is inspired by the life and legacy of the late Alvin Ailey.

  • Ronald K. Brown (Grace and Open Door) brings his rousing mix of modern and African dance to his latest work, The Call.

  • Wayne McGregor (Chroma) will thrill audiences once again with the Company premiere of his acclaimed contemporary ballet Kairos.

  • Jessica Lang enters our repertory for the first time with her luminous new EN.

The season also includes more special programs than ever before, bringing new vitality to many treasures from the three people who have led the Company—from seldom-seen gems like JubaRobert Battle’s electrifying first work for the Company, and Divining and Forgotten Time by the legendary Judith Jamison, to nearly two dozen classics by Alvin Ailey himself, including the world's most popular work of modern dance, Revelations.

Each performance will begin with "Becoming Ailey," a multimedia piece that brings the voice and presence of the late Alvin Ailey back to the New York City Center stage.
